31 stores, six cities: how MINISO grew in Bangladesh
From a single Dhaka store to a nationwide network — a short look at what the last few years of expansion actually took.

Reaching 31 stores across six cities is a good moment to look back at what expansion actually required — and it was rarely the part people expect.
Location before everything
The single biggest factor in whether a store performs is where it sits. Footfall, neighbouring retail, parking, and how visible the entrance is from the main circulation route matter more than raw square footage.
“A great store in an average location will underperform an average store in a great one. That is not a comfortable lesson, but it is a consistent one.”
The cities
- Dhaka — the largest cluster, spanning Gulshan, Dhanmondi, Uttara, Mirpur and beyond
- Chattogram — three stores at GEC Circle, KBH Plaza and Kohinoor City
- Sylhet — Kumarpara, beside Sylhet Grammar School
- Khulna, Bogura and Mymensingh — one store each

What comes next
Expansion continues under the FOCO model, which lets us grow with local partners without diluting how stores are run. If you are interested in bringing a store to your city, the franchise team is the place to start.
